NAMIC Announces Recipients of Annual Vision Awards

The National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) announced the winners of its 29th annual Vision Awards. The NAMIC Vision Awards celebrate original, multiplatform television programming that reflects the ethnic and cultural diversity of the viewing audience.

NAMIC issued a total of 15 Vision Awards for networks and distributors. AMC led the honors with two awards for its program: Dark Winds – AMC; and Zahn McClarnon: Dark Winds. Call for Nominations for 2023 Women of the The WICT Network LogoYear and Women to Watch Awards

The esteemed Women of the Year and Women to Watch awards will be presented at the Touchstones Luncheon on Monday, September 18, at the New York Marriott Marquis during The WICT Network’s Leadership Conference, held in conjunction with the industry’s Diversity Week.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, June 16, 2023, at 5:00 pm (Eastern).

The Woman of the Year Award is bestowed on a woman who has made significant contributions throughout her career to her company and the overall industry. She is a proven leader and asset who shows great resolve to help others along their path. The WICT Network will select one honoree from a programmer and an operator. 

The Woman to Watch Award honors a woman who shows tremendous success and promise through her professional accomplishments. She demonstrates exemplary leadership skills in her company and a strong dedication to the industry. The WICT Network will select one honoree from a programmer, an operator and a technology company.

On June 20 and 21, the Emma Week virtual conference kicks off across three career tracks (business, content and innovation) with media, entertainment and tech executives. Emma Week wraps up with an in-person networking cocktail reception on June 22 in New York.

Emma Week introduces students to all of EBF’s partner companies, as well as connects partners to EBF’s vibrant talent community, which includes interns at other EBF partner companies, alumni, and members of the ALL Multicultural Media Professionals (AMMP) Network.

T Howard Foundation logoHoward Foundation’s 2023 Career Influencer

Alexandra Givan (THF ’14) has been named the T. Howard Foundation’s 2023 “Career Influencer.”

The Career Influencer distinction recognizes outstanding THF alumni who are established in their careers for their outstanding achievements and commitment to advancing the Foundation’s mission by paying it forward. Alexandra was recognized at the 2023 Diversity Awards Dinner on Wednesday, May 17th where she delivered brief remarks.

Alexandra Givan is a proven strategic leader who believes in a “people-focused” approach to shifting organizational culture and advancing equity. She began her career as the Manager of Corporate Communications at Comcast and was promoted to Senior Manager in 2020.

In 2021, she transitioned into the field of diversity, equity and inclusion, leading strategic initiatives across the music industry. Alexandra led TikTok’s global community strategy for International Women’s Day, the organization’s first global community DE&I campaign across 20 countries and one of her biggest accomplishments to date.

Alliance for Women in Media48th Annual Gracie Awards Gala

The 48th Annual Gracie Awards Gala was held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. The night was an extraordinary celebration of so many inspirational honorees, programs and storytellers.

This year’s Gracie Awards shined a spotlight on the incredible achievements of women directors and writers. Their talent and dedication were celebrated, emphasizing the critical roles they play in shaping the cultural landscape through their storytelling.
